Perceived Value Is In The Eye Of The Beholder
Q: My partner and I are having a hard time coming up with what
we feel is the perfect price for our new product. We know what
competing products sell for, but we don't know if it's better to
price our product cheaper than theirs or charge more based on
what we think is a superior product. What is the best way to
determine the perfect price and what is the rule of thumb for
raising prices later on? -- Jennifer L.

How To Handle Customer Billing Snafus
Q: I just discovered that for the past six months I have been
billing a client half of what I should have been. Should I just
include the total of the past due balance on his next bill or
contact him first to let him know that it's coming? This client
has been difficult in the past, so I'd rather not deal with him
until I absolutely have to. My partner, on the other hand,
thinks we should call the client and let him know what's going
on before sending the bill. What do you think? -- Louis K.

Realism vs. Optimism in the Business Plan
The most important function of a business plan is to create
interest among investors so that they write a check. In
achieving this goal, business plan writers are often challenged
by determining the proper level of optimism in their plan. That
is, they must create a compelling story to investors while
maintaining credibility.
Optimism shows investors that a company is confident about the
market opportunity, its ability to execute on the opportunity,
etc. Over-optimism, however, leads investors ...Read the rest of this entry »
If there is something sick in your company, who do you call: Corporate Turnaround Expert
In the movie, "Ghost Buster", the theme song starts off, "If there is something strange in the neighbourhood, who do you call: "Ghost buster." Similarly, a sick company needs to call on the Corporate Turnaround Expert if you find something awfully unwell in your company.

Do You Know What Your Employees Are Doing?
A recent survey by Salary.com shows employee productivity may
not be all that employers would like. According to the survey,
'the average worker in the US admits to frittering away 2.09
hours per eight hour workday'. This figure does not include
lunch breaks or other scheduled break-time.
In Wisconsin for example, for every eight hours work an employer
pays for, the employee is likely to deliver less than six.
Respondents admit to wasting 2.8 hours on activities such as: '

Is Your Company Working At a Standstill? You Need Activities for
Are you worried that the upcoming staff outing is going to be an
all-out disaster? Maybe instead of horseshoes or badminton at
your next picnic, you should think about activities for conflict

of misperceptions and disintegrated communication - in other
words, your employees are probably acting a lot like this:
*Defensive or hypersensitive
*Fearful of reprisals and putdowns even if encouraged to speak
*Unwilling ...Read the rest of this entry »
